| For years I have wanted to go to Italy , and I know many of you have had the same dream trip in mind. Since there are many of us who wanted to go, I’m planning a group trip – open to anyone who wants to come. We’ll get the benefits of a group tour with both structure and free-time built in, and we’ll get to do it with some people we know instead of strangers. I’ll try to take into consideration people’s interests and budgets and come up with something that will offer a few options. My main plan is a two week trip, with the option of taking only the first week, only the second week, or both. Week one would include a “tour” of Italy , hitting a few cities and lots of site- seeing. My main interests are Venice , Florence and Rome . The second week would be a stay on the Amalfi Coast , near Naples , in a shared home or villa, depending on the number of people interested. The main criteria for this location would be: an ocean view, a pool, easy access to the beach and a location near little towns. This area is also close to Avellino and Montella, the hometowns of the Perna/Imbimbo families, and San Felice, hometown of, you guessed it, the San Felices. I will want to take at least a day trip to those towns, so we will rent cars or a van depending on interest. I hope to get a basic itinerary and estimated costs together in the next couple of months. For now, there is a proposed itinerary on this site. Since the trip will not be until summer 2012, everyone who is interested can determine their costs and put themselves on a monthly savings plan to save up the amount needed for the trip. I am willing to open a bank account for this purpose if anyone wants, and you can send me deposits on a weekly or monthly basis to help yourself save up. Once a deposit is required, everyone can make their final determination as to whether or not they want to make the commitment.
